Here are answers to parent’s most common questions. Please contact us if you have questions that are not answered here.
Membership FeesQ: What does my membership fee cover?A: Membership fees help PLAYtime provide supplies for activities, take home crafts and help us ensure the most up to date toys, video games and television videos are available for your child. Fees are also used for continuous staff training and facility maintenance to ensure the best possible care for your child. In addition, members receive a lower hourly rate and sibling discounts. Q: I want to give your service a try and be sure that my child will like it before I pay the membership. How will I be charged? A: Many parents like to try us out before paying the membership. For a first time “trial visit”, you will still be required to register your child. You will be charged a $5.00 registration fee per child, and the non-member hourly rate. When you decide to return, on the next visit, we will apply the first visit registration fee toward you membership. (The membership must be paid for on the second visit in order for the registration fee/s to be applied). Memberships purchased after the second visit will be full charge. Q: I only plan to use your service one time. Am I still required to pay the membership fee? A: No. If you only plan to use our center one time or do not wish to pay the membership fee, there is a non-member registration fee of $5.00 per child. Non – members rates are $1.00 more per hour than member rates. Care LimitationsQ: Can I drop off my child at any time without limitation?A: Your child may stay in our care as many hours as you need during PLAYtime hours of operation. However, because PLAYtime is an “alternative day care” center, your child may not attend PLAYtime more than 5 consecutive days or 15 total days in one calendar month. Back To Top A: Yes. The person who is picking up the child must be listed on the child’s account as authorized to pick up the child. If a person who is not on the child’s account intends to pick up the child, the parent (or legal guardian) of the child must advise PLAYtime at drop-off, who will be picking up the child. The person who is picking up the child should be prepared to show a valid I.D. at the time of pick up. PLAYtime may request a valid I.D. from any person who is picking a child. PLAYtime reserves the right to refuse pick-up from any person who is not authorized on the child’s registration forms. SecurityQ: What security measures do you provide for the safety of children who are cared for in your center? The PLAYtime facilities are equipped with security cameras that continuously record all activity areas of the center. The PLAYtime activity areas are accessible only to children and caregivers. All other people entering the center are restricted to the lobby area. Children do not have direct access to entrance and exit doors of the center and are not permitted to leave the center without a parent, legal guardian, or authorized pick up person. NapsQ: Does my child have to take a nap at quiet time?A: PLAYtime has quiet time for children after lunch from 12:30 to 2:30 and in the evenings after 9:00 p.m. At quiet time, children are encouraged to rest. If children do not want to sleep, they may watch a video or play quietly while other children are sleeping. Late FeesQ: Am I charged a late fee if I pick up my child after the time I have specified?A: Children 18 months and older can be picked up and dropped off at any time. There is no late charge for picking up children after the time you have specified on the PLAYtime sign in sheet. Children who require a reservation do need to be picked up by the specified pick up time. If a parent can not pick the child up at the time specified on the reservation, the parent is asked to call and advise the new pick up time. Parents who do not pick up their child by closing will be charged a late fee of $5.00 for the first minute and $1.00 for each additional minute after closing. After 15 minutes, the child’s emergency contact will be called. Activities for childrenQ: What specific activities do you offer for my children?A: A PLAYtime activity chart is posted daily at the check in desk for parents to review. Caregivers provide activities for children every 15 to 30 minutes throughout their stay. Activities include music, dance, arts and crafts, imagination play, group games and individual activities that children can do on their own. DisciplineQ: How do you discipline children?A: The discipline method used by PLAYtime is redirection. When a caregiver foresees a potential problem arising with a child’s actions, she will use redirection. The caregiver will distract the child from his original intention and quickly divert him toward a safer alternative giving the child something else to do to get his mind off of whatever was about to cause the negative situation. The caregiver may ask the child to come sit with her for a moment, look at a new toy, or help her with a small task. Please be aware, PLAYtime adheres to a strick NO BITING, NO HITTING AND NO FOWL LANGUAGE POLICY. Children will be asked not to return to the center if they use the above conduct. Registration PhotosQ: What if I don’t want my picture taken at registration?A: If a parent does not want to have their picture taken at registration, they may provide PLAYtime with a picture i.d. to verify their identity.at some other time. Parents who do not have their pictures on the child’s account will be required to show I.D. each time they pick up their child. StaffQ: Do you conduct criminal history checks on all employees?A: Yes, PLAYtime conducts criminal history checks on all employees. ToysQ: Can my child bring his own toys to play with?A: PLAYtime strongly advises that children leave their own toys at home. There is a large variety of toys and activities for children of all ages. PLAYtime is not responsible for toys that are brought into the center. Age SeparationQ: Are children in the center separated by age group?A: PLAYtime has specified play areas for each age group. This allows the PLAYtime caregivers to supervise children by age group and provide age appropriate activities to children who are under their care. Separation AnxietyQ: My child cries when I leave. How does PLAYtime handle separation anxiety? A: Children are sometimes sad when their parents leave. PLAYtime caregivers make every effort to welcome children into the center, remind them that Mommy and Daddy will be back and involve them in the center activities. The majority of children adjust after a few minutes of playing. If a child does not adjust within 15-30 minutes, PLAYtime will call the parents to let them know their child is still upset and discuss further options. Phone CallsQ: Can I call to check on my child?A: Yes, PLAYtime encourages parents to check on their children at any time. Back To TopDiaper Changing and Toileting Q: How often do you change diapers? A: Caregivers check diapers every hour and thirty minutes or before as needed. Diaper changing times are noted on the child’s information sheet. Q: My child is potty training. Will you take them to the bathroom to go potty? A: Yes, just note on the infant and toddler information sheet and we will be sure to take your child to the potty. SanitationQ: How does PLAYtime handle sanitizing items that children use while at PLAYtime?PLAYtime sanitizes all touch the mouth toys, bedding, mats, swings, activity chairs and high chairs that one child uses and before another child is aloud to use them. Used items are either sanitized immediately or placed aside for sanitation and returned to the floor after being sanitized. PLAYtime also maintains the highest standards of sanitation to prevent the spread of germs. Touch the mouth toys are set aside after one child uses them and sanitized before another child is allowed to use the toy. PLAYtime also ensures that children wash their hands after using the bathroom, after play and before meals to prevent the spread of germs. Back To Top Hi Guys,
I'd like to say thank you from the bottom of David and I 's heart for taking such good care of Emi, and how much we miss you all at the Keller parkway facility! I think the hardest part of leaving Texas and moving to North Carolina was the thought of Emilie not being able to see her beloved friends and caretakers at Playtime any more. Because we had no family members in Texas, I truly feel blessed that Emilie had such warm and loving care given to her when "mommy and daddy" both had to work. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Again, thank you and warmest wishes, Hi Jackie,
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how happy I was with the Spanish Preschool my daughter Penelope was enrolled in from July-September. Carisma did a great job working with her everyday and her Spanish vocabulary expanded quickly. Its so exciting to see her learn another language. I'm so glad that Playtime provides this great learning opportunity.
Many thanks. Jackie, I was there yesterday at the tail end of "eating" time for the kiddos. I want to tell you that I continue to be most impressed with ALL that you all provide for the care of the children. I was very impressed with "second helpings" and the fact that they get vegetables with their chicken nuggets vs. the YUCK!!!! as a side dish with McDonald's Nuggets!!!! I can't tell you how much I "pump up" Playtime to the ladies at the school/church. I wish you continued success.
Re: Spanish Pre School Jackie,
Thank you for the information. We appreciate it! We've been looking for a program like this since we moved here (3 yrs ago). So we totally support your efforts. Muy Bueno!
Leah and Daniel
